Our Team

The PACK Swim Team is a USA Swimming Team for children ages 6 through 18. Our professional coaching staff maintains the highest standard in teaching swim technique, body conditioning and a positive mental attitude that allows the swimmer to pursue excellence.  What our swimmers learn in terms of success, sportsmanship and team camaraderie, also carries into other areas of their lives and becomes an integral part of their character.

Although PACK is for children, the team is a family program in which we, the parents, play a vital role. By becoming involved in the program, we help to guarantee that our objectives are met.  We are glad to support the PACK program, which is such an important part of our children's lives.  Our role is to handle many of the administrative functions of the swim team.  We manage the budget, run swim meets, handle team travel arrangements, raise funds, process meet entries and organize team parties and the team banquet.  We work hard together and enjoy each other's friendship.

Team History

The PACK Swim Club was founded in 1976 as an age group team competing in Monroe County. The team rapidly developed into a regional contender. Swimmers from PACK have achieved US Junior Nationals Qualifying Times, Junior National Finals (Including a Junior Champion!), numerous medals at Empire State Games, many Eastern Zone Champions, Niagara District records and McDonald's League records. In addition, our swimmers continue to medal in numerous USS meets held each year and bring home team trophies. As a result of the PACK program, many of our swimmers have joined college swim teams, with some achieving full scholarships.

The PACK Swim Club was incorporated in 1997 as a not-for-profit organization and the name was changed to The PACK Swim Team of Pittsford, Inc.

Team Philosophy

The PACK Swim Team, under the guidance of professional coaches, seeks to achieve excellence in swimming on a local and national level. Our purpose is the development of the total athlete in a positive, supportive environment through wholesome, achievable objectives. In order to achieve these goals, the PACK Swim Team:

  • Provides instruction in competitive swimming strokes and techniques. Emphasis is also placed on developing the necessary endurance and physical strength to compete successfully.
  • Encourages the development of responsibility, independence, and confidence in each member. Swimmers are motivated to work to achieve their highest personal goals and to take satisfaction and pride in their achievements.
  • Provides the opportunity for swimmers to become friends with other children in the swimming community.

Our Philosophy of Competition

The following principles apply to all competitive situations:

  • Competition with oneself is emphasized. Individual improvement in time and/or skill is more important than placement in the field.
  • Consideration for fellow teammates, opponents, officials and parents is just as important as how you swim. Support for others, positive attitudes, and behavior, in addition to effort, is appreciated.
